Organic Bowls

I originally saw this material used to construct a hanging chandelier and I loved the look of it, but I think it looks even better used in the construction of these organic bowls. The material I'm speaking of is recycled plastic strands (eco-friendly) that are spun together, the bowls comes in three colors...Choose your favorite, I love the ORANGE!

Designer, Deal, and Steal!

In 1952 designer Harry Bertoia created these modern chairs constructed of bent steel rods. They are classic, functional, pieces of art. If you love this design but would prefer to have it on a budget...don't fret...there's a steal for you. Click to find out which is which.

One of the chairs is $780.00 while the other is a steal at $195.00

Traffic Stopper?

What do you think about this "Transit Chair" made from recycled metal street signs? If you like it, it can be yours for $1150.00. Does it inspire you, do you appreciate it's artistic qualities, do you hate it??? Leave your comments and let me know.

Pop Art Mirror

You know how I love pop art...so I couldn't resist posting this mirror made from RECYCLED SODA CANS!

Tres Jolie...

This is an awesome piece. The Crepax Kadhorna cabinet that can be purchased separately or as part of a set that also features a bed, dresser, and tall cabinet. I personally think all of the pieces in one room would be overkill, but as an accent piece this would look GREAT! It features the artwork of graphic artist Guido Crepax and was designed in 2004 by designer Giuseppe Canevese.

Ice, Ice Baby...

These are ice frames designed by Tom Vincent and sold through Umbra. Each frame holds three photos and are reflected from different angles to create it's unique effect.

Spotlight...Urban Outfitters

I love to take images of furniture and decor and put them all together to form an eclectic "design" collage. I LOVE these items and they're ALL from Urban Outfitters, they have such a unique variety of items with fun patterns and bold colors. They're items are perfect for dorm rooms, and apartment or loft living. I also think urban outfitters is a great place to buy items if you want to keep the feel of a room "young", there is something for everyone plus there's great fashion there as well...You can't beat that! HAPPY SHOPPING!!!

Designer, Deals, and Steals...2 for 1

In case you noticed I've been on a mad posting frenzy, trying to get some things up that I wanted to show you before I take a break for the long Memorial Day weekend! I went shopping with my bestfriend on yesterday (who happens to be a huge fan of hue--thanks bestest *muah*) and she's getting ready to redecorate her living space. She always jokes when she sees something expensive that I need to "find the deal and steal" for whatever she's looking for, although these aren't items that she's choosing to buy I thought I'd do a 2 for 1 deal in her honor, so here goes...

Check out these two lamps above which do you think is more expensive? You'll have to click to find out but one of these will cost you $189.00, while the other is far from breaking the bank at a price of $29.88.

These are modern mirror squares that are connected to form one wall accent mirror ,very contemporary, only one set of mirrors retails for $1260.00 while the other is only $98.00. Hmmm, which is which, just click to find out.

3-D Wall tiles

I saw these tiles featured a while back on HGTV's show "I Want That", and I've loved them ever since. They come in four colors and would provide a GREAT accent wall detail. For further pricing and information check out re:modern.

Industrial Woven Floormat

I really like this industrial floor covering. This black, floormat is constructed from woven pieces of rubber and could add great texture to a space. It's definitely meant for a very contemporary setting, as I think it would look it's best on a concrete stained floor. It comes in two sizes and you can click here to buy it.

A Penny for your Thoughts

Well this chair may cost a bit more than a penny, as a matter of fact you have to call about pricing for this limited edition studio piece by UK designer Tom Dixon. There were only eight of these chairs made and they're sold exclusively through Moss.

Anthropologie Rocks!

I don't what has taken me so long to do a post on Anthropologie but better late than never. They have a great selection of very eclectic home decor and furniture. I absolutely adore the bold patterns, textures, and graphics that are used in the designs of their products! I found it so hard to narrow down my favorites but I've done my best. Below you'll find my favorite sofas, pillows, rugs, tableware, and accessories, click here to check out Anthropologie's home interior selection for yourself.

L O V E

I had seen this pop art iconic representation of this four letter word many places, and had never given it a second thought as to were it came from. I decided to do a little research and this "symbol" was created by artist Robert Indiana and was first seen in a series of poems in 1958 before it was turned into a sculptured piece of aluminum in 1966. Since then the image has been reproduced countless times for everything from stamps and cards, to rugs, art posters, and t-shirts.

Many major metropolitian cities have housed the sculpture and reproductions of the sculpture on there streets for residents and visitors alike to admire the giant artwork whose figurative image has far outgrown any physical form that could ever be placed on it.

I could go on for forever about this so I'll just stop now! Here is Musiq Soulchild's video for "Love", notice how in the beginning of the video the letter "O" is turned as it is in Indiana's original productions.

Designing from A to Z

When I saw this alphabet pillow on wrapables.com I was inspired to search for other contemporary alphabet decor. So check out my finds and get back to the basics...A is for Awesome!

Lea's Alphabets are photo reproductions that have a A is for...B is for etc. theme. Art photographer Gregoire Ganter has taken photos from New York to L.A. and everywhere in between and they've been compiled and used in a series of 4 posters that come in 5 size options. They're Fun and Funky so choose your Favorite.

This brightly colored tibetan oriental rug was originally $780.00 but is now on sale for $390.00. I love the fact that different "fonts" were used for the alphabet and they alternated between upper and lowercase letters.

Organize your books from Art to Zen with these fun bookends from wrapables.

This Bob Mackie alphabet rug could be a great accent to room, it's definitely a conversation starter and comes in two other colors (purple and black, shown here in red).

In the meantime click the links below the image if you see something you like, and as always HAPPY SHOPPING!

Have you got the blues?

Summer is approaching...time for the beach...and the blues! Blue is such a cool color, it reminds me of the wind in my hair, big blue skies and ocean water. Although I prefer more of the blueish green shades I found some great "true" blue items that I thought it would be nice to share. So dive in!

Orb decals from Chiasso- $78.00

1) Beaded Coral Pillows from Zgallerie- $39.95

2) Lagoon Vases from Zgallerie- $47.95

3) Pozzi Pillow from Zgallerie- $39.95

4) Ricki Accent Chair from Zgallerie- $595.00

As you can see Zgallerie had all of my favorite "blues".

It's that time again...

Time to see more portfolio pages. I had so many room ideas and color concepts in my head, and wanted to transfer them into something tangible, so I took one weekend to slave and create a portfolio which included room ideas and rooms that I'd already done. I ended up with about 15 different rooms and I've been periodically posting pages from the portfolio. In case you missed it you can see other pages that have been posted here and here.

And now for your viewing pleasure... (I'm so silly sometimes)

You've never seen Paperclips like this

Paper Clip Wall Sculpture at Chiasso- $288.00

I was doing my usually browsing online, looking for interesting and fun items to post, and one of the rooms I saw featured a piece of 3 dimensional artwork that looked like paperclips that had been linked together. I, of course instantly fell in love, and wanted to see where I could find such art; the answer is Chiasso. Chiasso has a great selection of modern furnishings and accessories and some are at very reasonable prices. Happy shopping!

Designer, Deal, and Steal!

It's been a while since we've had a designer, deal, and steal post and it's long over due! I'm going to do this one a little differently than normal. Pictured below is the Egg Chair, a modern classic by Arne Jacobsen designed in the late 1950's. Although I like the egg chair it's never been one of my favorites...that is, until I saw it covered in a print fabric

(Photo Jan Baldwin) spotted at Channel4.com

This beautiful chair pictured above can be found at Fritz Hansen where they take the classic chair and handstich upholster them in luxurious fabric by Dutch textile company Kvadrat. It can be yours for about $5,192.54. If you don't have that to spare scroll down a little further for my solution.

This is the pod chair at Eurway, it's $489.00 and although it's solid it's very comparable to the chair pictured above. If I were buying it I would cover the chair in a print material (I'm sure a professional upholstery job wouldn't cost an awful lot), and if the black base isn't suitable you could even spray the base of the chair chrome. Even with the cost of material you wouldn't spend 1/4 the cost of the original...making Eurway's chair both our deal and steal!

I've even picked some floral patterns that I think would look GREAT on this type of chair and that resemble the designer chair. All for $16.95/yd and under from House of Fabric.com.

Andy Warhol's Work

If you frequent this blog I'm sure you've heard me reference "pop art" on many occasions. It happens to be one of my favorite art types and many people cannot mention pop art without the name Andy Warhol (August 6, 1928 — February 22, 1987)being mentioned as well. There are countless sites dedicated to his work and replicas of his work, ideas, and influences. Just recently Warhol's work titled "Green Car Crash (Green Burning Car I)" was auctioned for a whopping $71 million dollars! The auction, in which there was post war and contemporary art for sale, took in almost $385 million dollars making it the second most profitable art auction ever held. Re: Yahoo Entertainment click here for full story and image of the artwork)

I've featured some of Warhol's other famous works below you can also visit the site for his museum, The Warhol.

Andy Warhol's 1962 silkscreens of Marilyn Monroe

"Judith Green" by Andy Warhol

"George Gershwin" by Andy Warhol

"Mammy" by Andy Warhol

Below is my latest edition to my original pop art collection you can also view some of my other work here.
